A Sunday Times bestselling ghostwriter

Homepage_header_2020_C.jpg

Following a career as a national journalist, I became a ghostwriter in 2009. To date I’ve ghosted over 25 books including four Sunday Times bestsellers and multiple Amazon bestsellers. The genres include: celebrity, memoir, self-help, business, sport and social history.

Recent projects include a memoir based on a film script which became one of the top three UK films on Netflix, a self-help book for Penguin (which sold worldwide rights), a book for a world-leading entrepreneur and a major sports personality. A recently ghosted business book has been included on the university curriculum for Harvard University.

Several of my books have been serialised in national newspapers and magazines. One made front page headlines.

Many of my books have received critical acclaim and have four or five stars on Amazon. I especially love telling the extraordinary stories of ordinary people.

Alongside Teena Lyons, I am the founding member of The Ghostwriters Agency matching clients with bestselling ghostwriters from all over the UK.

I’ve worked on projects as diverse as business memoirs for industry leaders, real-life memoirs, celebrity autobiographies and philosophical guides. Four books became top ten Sunday Times bestsellers, and one was nominated for Sportsbook of the Year in Ireland.

All of my books have achieved four and five-star reviews on Amazon. I feature in The Complete Guide to Ghostwriting by Teena Lyons as one of the UK’s top ghostwriters.

My books have been reviewed in The Times, The Washington Post and one was noted as a Guardian Book of the Year.

I have appeared on Newsnight, Talk Radio and LBC. I have been interviewed for newspapers including The Guardian , The Telegraph , Newsweek, The Bookseller, and I News. In 2023 I featured on BBC Sounds podcast, Sideways with Matthew Syed and also literary podcast From the Library with Love.

In 2023, Teena Lyons and I set up The Ghostwriters Agency, matching professional ghostwriters with clients. The agency launch was featured in The Bookseller.

I am a member of the Society of Authors and represented by Eve White Literary Agency.

Everyday Ubuntu by Mungi Ngomane

Ubuntu is an ancient Southern African philosophy which in essence means, I am only because you are. This book involved working with Mungi Ngomane, granddaughter of Desmond Tutu, and a copy was presented to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex by Archbishop Desmond Tutu on their recent South Africa tour.

A few testimonials…

‘Shannon is an excellent ghost, with a gift for bringing out people’s stories’

- Andrew Lownie, Literary agent

‘Shannon is the most insightful ghost-writer I have worked with. At the time of writing ‘Big Boys Don’t Cry’ I was also giving evidence to the Government historical sexual abuse enquiry, alongside making my movie and working sixty hours a week. But Shannon got the best out of me regarding the tough memories of my childhood in order to write the book.

She did so with wonderful encouragement and professionalism. I would highly recommend Shannon as a ghostwriter and have already recommended her to many other people.’

- Paul Connolly ( Big Boys Don’t Cry by Paul Connolly)

‘Shannon worked with me on my book for six months and it was a very positive experience indeed. She not only guided me to a much better result than I could have managed myself, but also provided me with motivation when my enthusiasm flagged. She is just great to work with.’

- Bob Gomersall, Founder BTL Group ( Worthwhile Wealth by Dr Bob Gomersall)

‘Shannon made writing a book fun. I never expected that.’ - Anonymous Celebrity

‘Shannon was fantastic to collaborate with on an autobiography project. Our deadlines were incredibly challenging to which she managed with ease and professionalism. Shannon made our subject feel comfortable when interviewing which resulted in a story full of colour and depth, which client and agency were very happy with. I would highly recommend Shannon for any ghost writing project.

- Emma Whiting, Saatchi & Saatchi

‘It felt like Shannon did more than just write my book. She handled my story with real sensitivity. Her research was very thorough and she brought my story alive emotionally. She could be trusted to relay the facts as well as capture my voice.’

— Emma O’Reilly ( The Race to Truth; Blowing the whistle on Lance Armstrong and the doping culture by Emma O’Reilly)
